PLN Signs Largest Data Center Power Deal in Indonesia

PT PLN (Persero), through its subsidiary PT PLN Batam, is making a significant stride in bolstering Indonesia's digital infrastructure by signing a monumental Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with PT Digitalland Service One (DayOne). This agreement, for a staggering 511 megavolt amperes (MVA), is the largest of its kind for a data center in Indonesia to date. It signifies a strong commitment to supporting the burgeoning digital economy and attracting global investment.

The influx of large-scale data center projects like DayOne's is a clear testament to Batam's readiness to become a premier digital hub, not just for Indonesia but for the wider region.

Jamie Khoo, CEO of DayOne, highlighted that the expansion into Batam is a cornerstone of their strategy to build a leading digital infrastructure platform in Asia. This development, spanning from Nongsa to Kabil industrial estates, underscores Batam's increasing importance in the company's regional ecosystem. It's part of a broader vision to create an integrated, cross-border data center platform within the Southeast Asian region, often referred to as the SIJORI (Singapore, Johor, Riau) model.
