PLN to Purchase Power from Legok Nangka Waste-to-Energy Project for 20 Years

State-owned electricity company PT PLN (Persero) has committed to purchasing all power generated from the Legok Nangka Waste-to-Energy (PSEL) project for two decades. This agreement provides financial certainty for the strategic national project, located in West Bandung Regency, West Java.

PLN's Director of Project Management and New Renewable Energy, Suroso Isnandar, highlighted the swiftness of the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) process, which was completed in under three months since the project's assignment in January. "We reached the power purchase agreement (PPA) with a period of up to 20 years in just three months," Suroso stated during the project's groundbreaking ceremony.

The waste-to-energy plant will have a capacity of 40.79 megawatts, capable of supplying electricity to approximately 40,000 households with an annual energy production of 310 gigawatt-hours. Furthermore, the facility is designed to process 2,131 tons of waste per day, addressing about 13 percent of West Java's total waste.

Suroso expressed hope for the expansion of similar facilities, emphasizing the renewable nature of waste-to-energy. "This program needs to continue, Governor, so that 100 percent of this waste can be processed. This is renewable energy because it will be continuous as long as there is waste, electricity will be generated," he said.
