Plot for Grenade Attack Uncovered in Greece; Egyptian National Arrested

An organized grenade attack plot was uncovered in Greece following the arrest of an Egyptian national in Glyfada. According to the Directorate for Combating Organized Crime, the plan involved orders allegedly issued by an inmate currently serving a life sentence in Diavata prison since 2017 for murder.

The arrested suspect, an Egyptian national, reportedly received instructions for the attack from a compatriot imprisoned for murder. This inmate has also been implicated in robberies and disruptive behavior within the prison. Authorities identified a third individual, a Greek national, who allegedly supplied the grenade and was found to be in possession of a revolver and 4,000 euros during a house search. This individual, who had been released on parole and has a criminal record, is currently being sought by police.

Investigators had been monitoring two Egyptian suspects as part of their probe into the planned attack. Information suggests that at least 10 to 15 individuals were identified as potential targets. Among those reportedly on the list was Isidoros Dogiakos, the former Supreme Court prosecutor. The investigation is ongoing to uncover the full scope of the conspiracy and identify all involved parties.
