Rome – Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi concluded his five-nation tour with a significant stop in Rome, where he held productive discussions with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. The meeting, which began with a dinner shortly after Modi's arrival, underscored the strong and growing ties between India and Italy.

A notable highlight of the visit was the shared experience of visiting the iconic Colosseum. The visit occurs amidst a period of robust momentum in India-Italy relations. Both nations are actively implementing the Joint Strategic Action Plan 2025-2029, a comprehensive framework designed to enhance cooperation across critical sectors.

These collaborative efforts span vital areas including trade, which reached USD 16.77 billion in 2025, and investment, with cumulative FDI standing at USD 3.66 billion from April 2000 to September 2025. Further cooperation is evident in defense and security, clean energy, innovation, science and technology, and people-to-people exchanges. Prior to Italy, Prime Minister Modi visited Norway, Sweden, the Netherlands, and the United Arab Emirates as part of his extensive tour.
