PM orders detailed probe into deadly 11-vehicle crash on LPT1

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has ordered a detailed investigation after an 11-vehicle crash on Malaysia’s East Coast Expressway 1 killed four people, including three members of one family.

I have asked the authorities to conduct a thorough investigation to identify the cause of the incident.

The collision occurred at about 10 p.m. near the exit of the Temerloh toll plaza, at Kilometer 110.4 of the expressway. Three other people were injured.

The vehicles involved included a tanker lorry, a bus, four cars, three sport utility vehicles, a multipurpose vehicle and a pickup truck. One of the families killed had been returning home after celebrating National Day.

My condolences to all the families of the victims of the Temerloh crash that claimed lives, including a family who were returning home after celebrating National Day.

Anwar said authorities needed to work carefully to establish the actual cause of the crash. He expressed condolences to the victims’ relatives and urged all road users to exercise caution, obey traffic regulations and put their own safety and that of their families first.
