PM orders pilot project for national e-health platform

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has ordered the development of a national e-health platform through a pilot project, aiming to create an integrated digital framework for the country's healthcare services. The directive was issued during a meeting focused on establishing an information technology-based system for the health sector.

The proposed platform's effectiveness, potential challenges, costs, and feasibility will first be assessed in a pilot project across several districts. Based on the findings, the government plans a gradual nationwide expansion. The prime minister emphasized the importance of using information technology to make healthcare more accessible, convenient, and beneficial to citizens.

Crucially, Rahman stressed the need for secure storage of patient health information, ensuring it is readily available to authorized physicians and institutions. He also highlighted the importance of safeguarding data security and individual privacy while ensuring the platform is user-friendly, cost-effective, and sustainable in the long term. The prime minister requested a thorough evaluation of the pilot project's outcomes before proceeding with further steps.

Several officials, including the Health and Family Welfare Minister, State Minister, Special Assistants to the Prime Minister, and secretaries from the Health Services Division and ICT Division, attended the meeting. Engineer Zakaria Swapan presented the proposed platform's various aspects.
