PM Pledges to Fulfill Aspirations of Martyrs and Victims of Democratic Movements

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has pledged that his government will make every effort to fulfill the aspirations of individuals who sacrificed their lives or suffered injuries in the nation's struggles for independence, democracy, and people's rights. The commitment extends to those impacted by the 1971 liberation war, various democratic movements since independence, and the recent July Uprising.

Despite various practical realities, we will make our utmost efforts to fulfil the aspirations of those who sacrificed their lives in 1971, those who were killed or suffered in different movements to establish democracy since independence, and those who were killed or injured in the July uprising.

Speaking at a ceremony where job appointment letters were distributed to families affected by enforced disappearances, killings, and the July Uprising, Rahman acknowledged the practical difficulties the government faces. However, he assured that the administration would not waver from its commitment, stating, "we will not retreat from this path, In Shaa Allah."

The Prime Minister framed the government's support not merely as assistance but as a recognition of the crucial role these families and their sacrifices play. He described them as the "source of inspiration, encouragement and strength" that enables the government to work with full commitment and determination. Rahman expressed his intention to continue seeking their support and fulfilling their hopes as long as the people entrust his government with leading the country.

Rahman also affirmed the government's dedication to standing beside individuals and families who contributed to the restoration of democracy, irrespective of their political affiliation or background. He acknowledged that the losses incurred by these families can never be fully compensated but reiterated the government's unwavering presence: "We were with you, we are with you and, In Shaa Allah, we will remain with you."

It is because we have the support and cooperation of these people and their families that the government is working with full commitment, enthusiasm and determination to fulfil the aspirations of those who sacrificed their lives.

Reflecting on the July Uprising, Rahman described the event as emotional, noting the absence of those who should have been present. He stated that the "20 crore people of Bangladesh have been freed from a fascist situation through the circumstances that led to their absence." The ceremony saw 74 individuals receive appointment letters, a step towards honoring the sacrifices made for the nation's democratic ideals.
