PNM Plants 22,000 Mangroves Across Indonesia for Environmental and Economic Impact

PT Permodalan Nasional Madani (PNM) reaffirmed its commitment to environmental conservation by planting 22,000 mangrove trees simultaneously across 18 coastal regions in Indonesia on Sunday, July 26, 2026. This large-scale initiative, part of the PNM Green Impact program, was organized in observance of World Mangrove Day.

The event saw the participation of local governments, environmental communities, the general public, and PNM's assisted customers. This effort is a continuation of PNM's ongoing commitment to safeguarding coastal ecosystems. Since 2024, the company has planted a total of 196,700 mangrove trees in 58 locations throughout Indonesia, aiming to support environmental sustainability and bolster the economic resilience of coastal populations.

PNM views environmental preservation and economic empowerment as interconnected. Many of PNM's customers rely on coastal ecosystems for their livelihoods, including fisheries, aquaculture, trade, and culinary businesses. Environmental degradation and coastal erosion not only threaten these ecosystems but also jeopardize the means of survival for these communities.

Kindaris, the President Director of PNM, stated that sustainable empowerment must benefit both current and future generations. "PNM believes that empowerment is not just about today, but also about preserving life opportunities for the next generation. When we plant mangroves, we are planting more than just trees; we are planting protection for the environment, sustainability for community businesses, and hope for thousands of families who depend on coastal ecosystems for their lives," he said. Mangroves play a crucial role in protecting coastlines from erosion and extreme weather, serve as habitats for marine life, and absorb significant amounts of carbon, thus maintaining ecological balance and supporting local economies.
