Pocari Sweat launches 500ml label-free bottle, saving 900kg of plastic per million

Dong-A Otsuka is furthering its commitment to environmental sustainability with the release of a 500ml Pocari Sweat bottle that eliminates the plastic label. This follows the company's initial application of label-free packaging to its 340ml product in March 2024, now extending the eco-conscious design to a more popular size.

The company stated that this packaging improvement aims to enhance consumer convenience and contribute to resource circulation. The elimination of the label is projected to reduce plastic usage by approximately 900 kilograms for every million bottles produced. This change not only simplifies waste disposal for consumers by removing the need to separate labels but also improves the efficiency of the PET bottle recycling process.

Pocari Sweat has a history of engaging in resource circulation activities. Previously, the brand was the first in the industry to apply a tear-off line to its PET bottle labels and conducted the "Blue Label Campaign" to promote proper waste separation. Currently, they are also running the "Can QR Campaign," which encourages consumer participation in resource circulation by placing QR codes on the lids of their recyclable aluminum cans (240ml).
