Pogacar makes history with fifth Tour de France win

Tadej Pogacar has cemented his place in cycling history, achieving his fifth Tour de France overall victory, a record unmatched by any other rider.

Mathieu van der Poel claimed the final stage win, but Pogacar's dominant lead of nearly six and a half minutes over Remco Evenepoel before the last stage ensured his triumph. The Slovenian rider is now in an exclusive club with legends like Jacques Anquetil, Eddy Merckx, Bernard Hinault, and Miguel Indurain, all of whom have five Tour de France wins.

The battle for the other jerseys was largely decided before the final stage. Mads Pedersen secured the green points jersey, Richard Carapaz took the polka-dot mountains jersey, and Isaac del Toro claimed the white youth jersey. The final stage itself was shortened to allow relief for rescue personnel assisting with fires in Southern France.

Norwegian cyclists also made their mark. Tobias Halland Johannessen finished 17th overall, following up his sixth-place finish from the previous year with several strong individual stage results. Uno-X team rider Torstein Træen wore the yellow leader's jersey for two stages early in the race, and Søren Wærenskjold secured a stage win, marking Norway's first victory in the Tour since 2025.
