Pogačar's Criterium to Feature Del Toro, Ganna, and Matthews

The annual Tadej Pogačar Cycling Criterium in Komenda is set to be a star-studded affair on July 31, drawing top international and Slovenian talent. Pogačar, widely regarded as the world's best cyclist, has attracted a significant field to his hometown event, which has grown in stature each year.

Among the international headliners is Mexican rider Isaac del Toro, a key teammate of Pogačar's at UAE Emirates. The event will also feature a strong contingent of Italian cyclists, including multiple time trial world champion Filippo Ganna of Netcompany Ineos, who readily accepted Pogačar's invitation. Matteo Trentin (Tudor) and Giulio Ciccone (Lidl-Trek) are also confirmed participants.

Michael Matthews, a close friend of Pogačar's, will be present, alongside Pascal Ackermann, as part of a strong Jayco AlUla team. Other notable international riders include Giulio Pellizzari and Davide Piganzoli. The race will also showcase several prominent Slovenian cyclists, including Matej Mohorič and Jakob Omrzel from Bahrain Victorious, Tilen Finkšt, Jaka Primožič, and Matic Žumer. Only riders preparing for the Tour of Spain or the upcoming Tour of Poland will be absent.

Last year's winner, Tadej Pogačar, faces tougher competition this year. The criterium will be broadcast on Slovenian national television and Eurosport, ensuring a wide audience for the event.
