Poland's Armed Forces Day parade to feature parachute jump, new anti-drone tech

Poland is set to commemorate its Armed Forces Day on August 15 with a significant military parade in Warsaw. The event marks the 106th anniversary of the Battle of Warsaw, a pivotal moment in Polish history. This year's celebration, themed "Poland SAFE – Bezpieczna Polska" (Safe Poland – Secure Poland), will feature a grand display of military might and technological advancements.

The parade, scheduled to begin at noon on Warsaw's Wisłostrada, promises a spectacular start with a parachute jump. Nine skydivers carrying Polish, NATO, and European Union flags, along with the colors of the five branches of the armed forces, will land on the roadway. This daring opening is a first for the parade and highlights the precision and spectacle involved in such maneuvers.

Attendees can expect to see a wide array of military hardware, including Borsuk infantry fighting vehicles, Rosomak transporters, Abrams and K2 tanks, and Krab self-propelled howitzers. The skies will be graced by F-35 Husarz fighter jets, Black Hawk, and Apache helicopters. Simultaneously, a naval parade will take place on the Bay of Gdańsk, adding another dimension to the day's observances.

A notable highlight among the approximately 300 military vehicles will be the debut of modified Legwan and Kleszcz (Bóbr-3) reconnaissance vehicles. These vehicles are equipped with specialized mesh screens designed to protect against FPV drones. Unlike improvised solutions seen on the front lines in Ukraine, Poland's design is a sophisticated, lightweight, and flexible netting system offering 360-degree protection without hindering vehicle operation. This innovation underscores Poland's commitment to adapting its military technology to contemporary threats.
