Poland's Defense Ministry Analyzes Drone-Hunting Jets Amid Worker Concerns

Poland's Ministry of National Defence is conducting analyses into modifying M-28 Bryza aircraft for anti-drone systems, a move that has sparked concern among workers at the PZL Mielec plant. The ministry's response to a parliamentary inquiry in August offered only a brief mention of these analyses, failing to address the core issue of new aircraft orders that was central to the lawmakers' question.

This contrasts with an earlier statement from General Ireneusz Nowak, who indicated that the first prototype for an anti-drone variant would undergo modification soon after a contract was signed. The ministry's current, more cautious wording in its official response to parliament suggests a lack of firm commitment, leading the NSZZ "Solidarność" PZL Mielec union to accuse the ministry of delaying decisions. The union highlighted that the production facility is ready, with a complete platform and intellectual property rights, awaiting only a decisive order.
