Pole vault star Duplantis releases 'Gold' song for World Athletics Championship

Armand Duplantis, the decorated Swedish pole vaulter, has ventured into music, composing the official song for the upcoming World Athletics Ultimate Championship in Budapest. Titled 'Gold,' the track was co-written by Duplantis with Carl Silvergran and Oscar Chase.

Duplantis, a four-time European champion, three-time world champion, and two-time Olympic gold medalist, will perform 'Gold' at the championship's closing gala on September 13. The event is set to bring together elite athletes, including world, Olympic, and Diamond League champions.

"I wrote the song with the idea of representing something that is much bigger than oneself," Duplantis stated. "I think that is what we all do when we are on the track. We represent our family, our team, our coaches, and I love that concept. Music and sport are the two things that bring people together in the best possible way, and 'Gold' is an expression of that."

The World Athletics Ultimate Championship boasts a historic prize pool of ten million dollars. British athletics chief Sebastian Coe sees the event as a way to "highlight the talent and passion of the biggest stars in athletics, both on and off the track." Coe added that Duplantis, as one of the sport's most recognized figures, was the ideal choice to create the championship's anthem.

The music video for 'Gold' was filmed in iconic Budapest locations, including Fisherman's Bastion and Heroes' Square. It also incorporates personal archival footage of Duplantis from his childhood and early athletic career, alongside highlights from his most significant competitive moments.
