Police arrest 27-year-old suspected cultist in Lagos, recover firearm

Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have apprehended a 27-year-old man suspected of cultism, seizing a locally made pistol loaded with a live cartridge. The arrest occurred during a routine stop-and-search operation in the Ijaiye/Ojokoro area of Lagos when police intercepted a motorcycle carrying three passengers.

During the search, one of the passengers, Yusuf Lamina Adigun, a 27-year-old male, was found in possession of a locally made pistol loaded with one live cartridge.

The suspect, identified as Yusuf Lamina Adigun, was found with the weapon. During preliminary interrogation, Adigun confessed to being a member of the Eiye Confraternity. He also provided details about a planned attack involving other cult members who are currently at large, stating they were en route to target individuals before their interception.

During preliminary interrogation, the suspect confessed to being a member of the Eiye Confraternity. He further disclosed that he and other members of the cult group, who are currently at large, were on a mission to launch an attack on some individuals before they were intercepted by the Police.

The police have stated that Adigun remains in custody as investigations continue. Efforts are underway to apprehend the fleeing members of the cult group and recover any additional weapons they may possess. The Lagos State Police Command has reaffirmed its commitment to combating violent crime through intelligence-led strategies and proactive operations.
