Police arrest 43 suspects, rescue six kidnap victims in nationwide operations

The Nigeria Police Force has reported significant successes in combating crime, arresting 43 suspected criminals and rescuing six kidnapped victims during coordinated operations nationwide over the past 24 hours. These efforts, undertaken in collaboration with other security agencies, also led to the recovery of various illicit items.

Across multiple states including Anambra, Bayelsa, Benue, Delta, Gombe, Nasarawa, Niger, Ogun, Osun, Bauchi, and Zamfara, the operations yielded firearms, suspected stolen property, illegal drugs, and rustled livestock. Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Anietie Okokon Iniedu, emphasized that these actions demonstrate the police's dedication to fighting crime, safeguarding lives and property, and enhancing public security.

Notable breakthroughs included the arrest of a suspected transformer vandal in Anambra State who was electrocuted during the act. In Bayelsa, three suspected cultists were apprehended after a shooting incident, with a battle axe and a vehicle recovered. Benue State police arrested three suspects following an attack on a civil protection guard office, seizing a locally made pistol.

In Nasarawa State, police operatives successfully rescued six kidnap victims unharmed after applying pressure on their abductors. The victims were medically assessed and reunited with their families. This operation was part of a larger joint clearance exercise involving the army, civil defense corps, and other local security units, which led to the arrest of 29 additional suspects and the recovery of suspected cannabis.

Further operations saw the interception of a vehicle carrying stolen cows in Gombe State, with one suspect arrested. In Delta State, three individuals were arrested in connection with a murder case. The police also ensured security during the First Lady's visit to Kogi State without incident. Additionally, a suspect was arrested during a response to an armed robbery call, with stolen valuables recovered.
