Police arrest 65 suspected of planning to disrupt protests, linked to anarchist network

Authorities in Jakarta have apprehended 65 individuals suspected of intending to disrupt upcoming demonstrations at the Gedung DPR (House of Representatives). The arrests, made across several locations including Jakarta Timur, Bogor, Bekasi, Depok, and Tangerang, indicate a coordinated effort to infiltrate and potentially derail planned protests.

According to Kombes Pol Budi Hermanto, Head of Public Relations for the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, two of the suspects were initially detained by the Directorate of Cyber Crime, identified by the initials R and Z. The remaining 63 individuals were subsequently arrested by the Directorate of General Criminal Investigation.

Budi Hermanto stated that the 63 individuals were apprehended while gathered in the East Jakarta area. He noted that while they come from different groups, these factions are allegedly connected to an anarchist network. The police are currently conducting further investigations into the activities and affiliations of those arrested.
