Police arrest couple owning WO Marwah suspected of defrauding prospective brides and grooms

Authorities in East Jakarta have apprehended a married couple accused of defrauding numerous couples planning their weddings. The suspects, identified as the owners of the wedding organizer company WO Marwah, allegedly accepted payments from clients but failed to deliver the promised services. Both individuals have been officially named as suspects and are currently detained pending further legal proceedings. According to East Jakarta Police Chief Kombes Pol Alfian Nurrizal, the couple received payments from victims but did not fulfill their contractual duties, leading to widespread complaints. The case came to light as prospective brides and grooms struggled to contact WO Marwah representatives as their wedding dates approached, causing significant panic. Police initiated an investigation, gathering statements from victims and evidence, which led to the couple's arrest. Investigators are continuing to explore the possibility of other victims and are examining the suspects' activities during the period they were unreachable. The police are also looking into allegations that the couple attempted to flee before their capture.
