Police arrest two suspects, recover ₦5.2m worth of drugs in Adamawa

The Adamawa State Police Command has apprehended two individuals, Bashiru Ibrahim, 27, and Mustapha Labbo, 26, in connection with the unlawful transport of suspected Tramadol capsules valued at over 5.2 million Nigerian Naira (approximately $3,500 USD).

On 11th August 2026, the patrol team attached to the Area Command, Yola, while on routine patrol, intercepted the suspects at Dabala Village via Malabu, while they were transporting the consignment from Jamtari to Garwa in the Republic of Cameroon.

According to a statement released Thursday by the command's spokesman, Suleiman Nguroje, the suspects were intercepted on August 11 in Dabala Village. They were reportedly transporting the consignment from Jamtari to Garwa in the Republic of Cameroon. A search by the patrol team resulted in the recovery of 150 packs containing a total of 150,000 Tramadol capsules.

Both suspects and the recovered drugs have been taken into police custody. An investigation is underway to identify the source of the medications and any other individuals involved in the illegal operation. The Adamawa State Police Command, under the leadership of Commissioner of Police Kabir Hassan, reiterated its commitment to combating the trafficking and abuse of illicit substances within the state.

A search conducted by the patrol team led to the recovery of 150 packs containing a total of 150,000 Tramadol capsules, with an estimated street value of Five Million, Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira (₦5,250,000).

In a separate development, the command also reported finding a missing child of unknown identity. The child was discovered by a resident at the temporary Market Bypass and handed over to the police. The found child is currently unable to provide identifying information or details about their family and is being kept in safe custody at the Yola Division. The police are appealing to the public for any information that could help identify the child and locate their family.
