Police Bust Drug Ring Using Bird Feed Packaging in Bekasi

Authorities in Bekasi, West Java, have dismantled a drug trafficking ring that employed a novel method of concealment: disguising methamphetamine within bird feed packaging. The operation, uncovered by the Narcotics Directorate of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, led to the arrest of a 26-year-old suspect identified by the initials DS.

During the arrest, police seized a total of 38.25 grams of crystal methamphetamine. The suspect was apprehended in the Bintara area following a tip-off from the public regarding suspicious drug-related activities. Investigators discovered five packages of methamphetamine, weighing 27.32 grams, concealed in paper bags designed to look like bird feed packaging.

Further investigation led police to a rented house in the Bekasi Barat area, believed to be used for storing the illicit substances. At this location, officers found an additional two plastic clip bags containing 10.93 grams of methamphetamine.

In addition to the drugs, police confiscated several items including a digital scale, empty plastic clip bags, adhesive tape, a bong (water pipe for smoking), and the suspect's mobile phone. The suspect DS and all seized evidence have been transferred to the Jakarta Metropolitan Police headquarters, where further investigations are underway to identify and apprehend other individuals involved in the drug network.
