Police Capture Five Suspects After Ride-Share Driver Robbery in Alanje

Quick action by David's mounted police unit, the Linces, led to the capture of five men, one a teenager, who minutes earlier had allegedly beaten and robbed a ride-share driver in Alanje. The group had hired the driver through the InDrive platform for a trip from Los Abanicos de David to Bugaba. Upon reaching Querévalos in Alanje, they reportedly attacked the driver with a firearm and stole his vehicle before fleeing.

Following a citizen alert to the National Police, an operation was launched. The stolen vehicle was located and pursued along the Interamericana highway. The suspects drove against traffic before being apprehended by the Linces near the Autonomous University of Chiriquí.

Roberto Monterrey, the police chief for the Chiriquí zone, stated that the timely report was crucial for the apprehension. He advised platform drivers, as well as taxi drivers, to be discerning about the rides they accept. The arrested individuals and the confiscated evidence have been handed over to the Public Ministry. They are expected to appear before a judge for legal proceedings.
