Police impound 21 vehicles over traffic violations in Delta

Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have impounded 21 vehicles during an intelligence-led enforcement operation targeting traffic violations in Abraka and Ozoro communities. The operation, conducted on July 21, 2026, aimed to enforce traffic regulations, enhance public safety, and prevent the use of improperly documented vehicles for criminal activities.

The Police Public Relations Officer for Delta State, Superintendent of Police Bright Edafe, stated that the vehicles were seized for offenses including non-display of registration plates, covered number plates, and expired vehicle particulars. The Deputy Commissioner of Police, Department of Operations, led the patrol that resulted in the impoundments.

Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, emphasized that vehicles without proper identification or valid documentation pose significant security threats and can be exploited for criminal activities. He urged motorists across the state to adhere to traffic laws and ensure their vehicles are legally documented. The command assured residents that such enforcement operations would continue to promote public safety and ensure legal compliance.
