Police investigate youths carrying sharp weapons in North Jakarta

North Jakarta Metropolitan Police are investigating the identity of a group of youths captured on video carrying sharp weapons in the Pantai Indah Kapuk area. The incident, which occurred on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, around 5:43 PM, was recorded by a bystander and subsequently shared on social media, causing public unease.

According to reports, the video shows at least seven young men on motorcycles, some dismounting to walk or run, all displaying weapons that appear to be sickles. Most of the individuals were wearing face masks. The footage was reportedly filmed from a car on the PIK road towards Elang Laut in North Jakarta.

Police have confirmed the incident occurred and are actively pursuing leads. "The Criminal Investigation Unit of the North Jakarta Metro Police has checked the crime scene and confirmed the incident is real," said Inspector Two Maryati Jonggi, Head of Public Relations for the North Jakarta Metro Police. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities examining CCTV recordings and interviewing witnesses to identify the perpetrators and understand their motives.
