Police kill two kidnappers in Ondo gun battle

Operatives of the Ondo State Police Command have neutralized two suspected kidnappers in a fierce gun battle along the Akure-Owo Expressway. The exchange of gunfire occurred in the early hours of Wednesday after police responded to a distress call about armed men at Olaiya Block Industry near Ilu-Abo.

Acting swiftly on credible intelligence, the police patrol team mobilized to the scene, where the suspects engaged operatives in a fierce exchange of gunfire.

According to DSP Abayomi Jimoh, the state Police Public Relations Officer, approximately seven masked gunmen invaded the block industry premises. Upon arrival, police patrol teams engaged the suspects, leading to a fierce exchange of gunfire. During the encounter, two of the suspected kidnappers were killed, while the rest of the gang managed to escape into the surrounding bush, reportedly with varying degrees of gunshot injuries.

These items are believed to be linked to the criminal syndicate or their victims. The bodies of the deceased suspects have been deposited at the State Specialist Hospital in Akure.
