Police nab cleaner for stealing NYSC doctor’s ₦18m car in Adamawa

The Adamawa State Police Command has apprehended a 26-year-old suspect in Kano State and recovered a 2016 Toyota Corolla Sport valued at approximately ₦18 million. The suspect, identified as Mohammed Dan-Azumi, was arrested following a report by the vehicle's owner.

The breakthrough followed a report lodged by the owner of the vehicle, who stated that he had entrusted his vehicle to Mohammed Dan-Azumi, 26, of Girei Local Government Area, for washing. The suspect allegedly absconded with the vehicle to an unknown destination.

According to a police statement, the owner had entrusted his vehicle to Dan-Azumi for washing. The suspect then allegedly absconded with the car to an undisclosed location. Operatives from the State Intelligence Department (SID) launched an operation, tracking the suspect to Kano where he was arrested and the vehicle recovered.

Acting swiftly on the report, operatives of the State Intelligence Department (SID), Yola, launched a coordinated, intelligence-led operation that led to the tracking and arrest of the suspect in Kano State. The stolen vehicle was successfully recovered.

Dan-Azumi is reportedly a cleaner at Girei Cottage Hospital, where the car owner, a serving National Youth Service Corps medical doctor, works. The police have stated that investigations are ongoing, and the suspect will face arraignment upon completion of the probe. The Commissioner of Police commended the investigating team and urged the public to continue providing support and credible information.
