Nigeria's IGP urges newly promoted officers to shun corruption

Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has called on newly promoted Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) and Commissioners of Police (CPs) to maintain the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, and accountability. Speaking at a decoration ceremony at the Force Headquarters, Disu congratulated the officers on their advancement, recognizing it as a testament to their dedication and service within the Nigeria Police Force.

I expect you to lead with unwavering integrity, exhibiting zero tolerance for any form of misconduct, abuse of power, or corruption. Additionally, I expect you to lead with compassion.

Disu stressed that their new ranks come with significantly increased responsibilities. He highlighted that their professionalism and commitment have earned them the trust of the Force, and their conduct will now serve as a benchmark for the next generation of police personnel. "This rank is not merely a reward for past achievements. It represents the Force’s confidence in your future contributions. Your character will serve as the example, and your discipline will set the standard," he stated.

The IGP urged the newly promoted officers to discharge their duties with both integrity and compassion. He issued a clear directive to reject any form of misconduct, abuse of power, or corruption. "I expect you to lead with unwavering integrity, exhibiting zero tolerance for any form of misconduct, abuse of power, or corruption. Additionally, I expect you to lead with compassion. The officers under your command are observing to determine if you genuinely care for them as individuals, rather than merely as personnel," Disu added.
