Police recover pistol, hunt third suspect over Tuba murder

The Accra Regional Police Command has apprehended two brothers in connection with a fatal shooting incident at Beach Drive Estate, Tuba, near Weija. The attack on August 6, 2026, resulted in the death of 54-year-old Mohammed Rahman and gunshot wounds to his wife, Christiana Fosu, 53.

Police responded to a distress call and found the couple outside their apartment. Rahman was pronounced dead upon arrival at Finney Hospital, while Fosu was transferred to Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital and is reportedly responding to treatment. The deceased's body is at the Police Hospital Mortuary pending an autopsy.

During interrogation, one of the arrested brothers, Adams Adder Almeida, allegedly admitted to firing the shots. He stated his motive was that the deceased had repeatedly called him "lazy and useless," which he claimed affected him mentally. Almeida led investigators to his brother Bala Bilyon's room, where a pistol believed to be the murder weapon was found concealed.

Investigations indicate both brothers live together and that Bala Bilyon works with the deceased. Adams Almeida claims a friend named Gideon supplied the pistol. Police are searching for Gideon, who was not found at his residence. Bala Bilyon is assisting police with their inquiries.
