Police release sketches of two suspects in Pejompongan resident’s fatal beating

Jakarta police have released facial sketches of two men suspected of taking part in the beating that killed Pejompongan resident Bambang Setiyawan.

The sketches were shown at a press conference on Wednesday, 2 September 2026, covering the investigation into unrest that followed demonstrations on 27 August. Police said the case formed part of a wider investigation into rioting, damage to public facilities and assaults stretching from the DPR/MPR complex to Pejompongan.

Investigators have questioned 14 witnesses and analyzed CCTV recordings and videos from social media. They developed the sketches by matching witness accounts with the results of their digital analysis.

Police described the first suspect as a man aged about 30 to 40 with an oval face, thin eyebrows, thick lips, a short nose, black eyes and brown skin. The second was also estimated to be 30 to 40, with a square face, a flat nose, a thick lower lip, and a moustache and beard.

Metro Jaya Police have named 47 people as suspects in the broader cases. Officers are still pursuing the two men depicted in the sketches.
