Police rescue abducted woman in Ondo after gun battle, recover vehicle

Ondo State Police have successfully rescued a 61-year-old woman, Mrs. Modupe Oladele, who was abducted from her residence in Owo. The operation involved a swift response by police operatives and a subsequent exchange of gunfire with the armed assailants.

At about 2:50 a.m., the Divisional Police Officer of B Division, Owo, received a distress call reporting that a gang of armed men had forcefully broken into the residence of Mrs. Oladele and abducted her at gunpoint.

The abduction occurred in the early hours of June 23, 2026, when hoodlums invaded Mrs. Oladele's home, forcing her into her own Toyota Matrix vehicle before fleeing the scene. Upon receiving a distress call, the Divisional Police Officer of B Division, Owo, immediately mobilized operatives who launched a coordinated pursuit of the suspects.

Exhibits recovered from the scene include two expended cartridges, a sandal, and a torchlight. The police command has transferred the case to the appropriate investigative unit for further action and is intensifying efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
