Police Stop Cyclist Carrying Unsecured Cat, Cite Safety Concerns

Officers from the Zhongshan Road Police Station, on patrol at the time, observed the cyclist, identified as Ms. Chen, 43. Given the busy traffic and the potential for the cat to fall off unexpectedly, which could lead to a collision or further traffic disruption, the officers promptly stopped her. Their primary concern was the risk of the cat falling and causing a rear-end collision or other accidents.

Ms. Chen's bicycle was found to be in violation of Article 76 of the Road Traffic Management and Penalty Act, which stipulates that items carried on a bicycle must be properly secured. While no accident occurred and Ms. Chen was cooperative, the police issued a stern warning.
