Power Outage Leaves 2,200 Households in Velten Without Electricity

Velten, Germany – Approximately 2,200 households in the town of Velten are grappling with a significant power outage that began overnight. The disruption is attributed to two separate cable faults, according to city officials.

Energy provider Edis stated that repair work is underway and is anticipated to continue until late afternoon. The process necessitates the excavation of roads and sidewalks in affected areas. While the company aims for a swift resolution, there is a possibility that the power may not be restored until later than initially estimated.

The outage primarily impacts the Velten-Süd district, along with the residential areas of Parkstadt and Kuschelhain. City representatives confirmed that 22 transformer stations have failed as a result of the faults.

In response to the situation, the Ofenstadthalle has been designated as a temporary community hub. Here, affected residents can warm up food and charge their mobile devices. The city is also advising residents to conserve water as a precautionary measure, though it stressed that this is a temporary precaution. While wastewater pump stations experienced a brief outage, they have since been brought back online.
