Power restored in Omiš and surrounding areas after wildfire; 200 workers involved in repairs

Electricity has been fully restored to the areas of Omiš and its surroundings that were impacted by a devastating wildfire. The Croatian national power company, HEP Operator distribucijskog sustava (HEP ODS), confirmed that all users now have power following extensive repair work.

The fire, which broke out on August 13, caused substantial damage to the electrical infrastructure. Approximately 2,200 customers in areas including Bork, Nemira, Balića Rat, and others were left without electricity. The damage included around 280 poles – 100 on the medium-voltage grid and 180 on the low-voltage grid.

Repair efforts commenced early on August 15, involving a dedicated team of 200 workers from various Elektrodalmacija Split field units. These workers, supported by numerous volunteers, worked tirelessly in challenging conditions. Much of the damaged infrastructure was located in difficult-to-access terrain, which complicated and slowed down the repair process. Damaged cable lines also added to the complexity.

HEP ODS expressed gratitude to all involved services and volunteers who contributed to the successful and swift restoration of power. The company highlighted the maximum effort put forth by its workers to ensure electricity was returned to all users as quickly as possible.
