The People Power Party (PPP) has issued an apology following revelations that its delegation, led by party leader Jang Dong-hyuk, misrepresented the nature of a meeting held during their recent U.S. trip. The controversy erupted when Jang claimed to have met with a U.S. State Department deputy assistant secretary, presenting a photograph of the official's back as evidence. However, the U.S. State Department clarified that the official in question was Gavin Wax, a special assistant to the deputy assistant secretary for public diplomacy, a role distinct from that of a Senate-confirmed deputy assistant secretary with independent policy authority.

The party's apology, delivered by spokesperson Park Seong-hoon, acknowledged potential misunderstandings or misrepresentations in the initial reports.
