Prabowo Heads to Russia for Eastern Economic Forum, Highlighting Close Indonesia-Russia Ties

President Prabowo Subianto left Jakarta late Tuesday for Vladivostok, where he will attend Russia’s 11th Eastern Economic Forum as the forum’s chief guest. The invitation came directly from Russian President Vladimir Putin, giving the trip a prominent place in the two countries’ expanding diplomatic engagement.

The presidential aircraft took off from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base at 11:20 p.m. local time. The forum is scheduled for September 1-4 at Far Eastern Federal University in Vladivostok. Prabowo is traveling with senior officials including Coordinating Economic Affairs Minister Airlangga Hartarto, Foreign Minister Sugiono, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia, Higher Education, Science and Technology Minister Brian Yuliarto, Investment and Downstreaming Minister Rosan Roeslani, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
