Prabowo Removes Head of National Nutrition Agency, Appoints Successor

President Prabowo Subianto has removed Dadan Hindayana from his position as Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), effective June 2, 2026. The announcement was made by top government spokesperson Prasetyo Hadi during a press conference at the Presidential Office in Jakarta.

Hindayana's post has been filled by Nanik Suryati Dayang, who previously served as the Deputy Head of BGN. Dadan Hindayana, an entomologist from IPB University, was initially appointed as Head of BGN on August 19, 2024, by former President Joko Widodo. He retained his position under President Prabowo's administration until the recent change.

The National Nutrition Agency plays a crucial role in implementing one of the government's priority programs: the free nutritious meal initiative. This program was a significant campaign pledge by President Prabowo Subianto during the 2024 Indonesian Presidential Election. The initiative aims to provide healthy and nutritious food to school students, toddlers, and pregnant and breastfeeding mothers, having commenced on January 6, 2025.
