Pregnant Woman Arrested for Drug Use in Taiwan

Taiwanese authorities have arrested a couple in Yunlin for drug offenses and illegal possession of a firearm, with the female suspect found to be five months pregnant and testing positive for narcotics. The Yunlin Investigation Team of the Coast Guard Administration and the Huwei Police Precinct apprehended the pair after a months-long investigation.

During the arrest at the male suspect's rented apartment in Xiluo, officers seized a modified handgun capable of causing harm, along with gun components, eight bullets, and 96.55 grams of "zombie smoke bombs," a street name for the drug etonitazene. The male suspect, identified by the surname Lu, was reportedly involved in drug use and illegal firearm possession.

Upon arrival at the scene, investigators discovered Lu's live-in girlfriend, who was visibly pregnant and appeared disoriented. A drug test confirmed her use of narcotics. The irresponsible behavior of a pregnant woman using drugs, which can cause irreversible harm to fetal development, drew sighs and headshakes from the officers present. The case has been forwarded to the Yunlin District Prosecutor's Office, which indicted both Lu and his girlfriend on charges related to the "Firearms and Ammunition Control Act" and the "Narcotics Hazard Prevention Act."
