President Attends Harvest Event, TNI Strengthens Food Self-Sufficiency

President Prabowo Subianto, accompanied by TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto and the three Army Chiefs of Staff, participated in a synchronized harvest event at the Abdulrachman Saleh Airbase in Malang, East Java. This event underscores the Indonesian National Armed Forces' (TNI) commitment to bolstering national food security and self-sufficiency.

The synchronized harvest encompassed three strategic commodities: sugarcane, cultivated by the Air Force; soybeans, supported by the Navy; and rice, overseen by the Army. President Subianto highlighted the TNI's involvement in the food sector as a tangible demonstration of their dedication to the Indonesian people. He stressed that cross-sectoral collaboration is essential for overcoming societal challenges and reinforcing national food resilience.

"This shows that the TNI and Polri are not only guardians of national defense and security but are inseparable parts of the Indonesian people," President Subianto stated. "The TNI and Polri are children of the people. The TNI and Polri must always be with the people, among the people. The people's difficulties are the TNI and Polri's difficulties."

General Agus Subiyanto elaborated on the TNI's role, emphasizing its presence in strengthening food independence. He noted the significant contributions made by the TNI in increasing the production of strategic commodities. The Air Force is supporting sugarcane development alongside the Sinergi Gula Nusantara (SGN) company and sugarcane farmer associations, covering 236,048 hectares with a potential production of 18.386 million tons of sugarcane, contributing significantly to the national sugar production target. The Navy focuses on soybeans, and the Army on rice cultivation, demonstrating a coordinated effort across all military branches to support farmers and enhance national food production.
