President: Experiences of political prisoners and deportees are crucial today

President Gitanas Nausėda acknowledged the significance of the experiences of political prisoners and deportees during a gathering in Ariogala. He stressed that their testimonies are particularly crucial today, as Europe witnesses renewed aggression and attempts to undermine nations' rights to self-determination.

Nausėda stated that the experiences of those who endured imprisonment and exile serve as a vital reminder that freedom is not a given. He highlighted the values embodied by the attendees: love for Lithuania, respect for human dignity, and an unwavering belief in freedom. These, he noted, also translate into a responsibility for one's homeland.

The president expressed gratitude for the efforts to transmit Lithuania's history to the younger generation. He underscored that loyalty to Lithuania was instrumental in restoring the nation's freedom.
