President Lee begins 7-day US and South America tour, meets tech CEOs

South Korean President Lee Jae-myung began an 11-day, 7-country tour of the United States and South America on July 24. The trip includes a significant focus on artificial intelligence and global technological cooperation.

In San Francisco, President Lee is scheduled to meet with prominent figures in the tech industry, including Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia; Dario Amodei, CEO of Anthropic; Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI; and Hock Tan, President and CEO of Broadcom. These meetings underscore South Korea's commitment to engaging with global AI leaders.

The president will also participate in an AI Summit, where he is expected to unveil the 'San Francisco AI Declaration,' outlining a vision for international AI collaboration. Following this, he will attend a 'Silicon Valley Venture Capital Exchange' event, meeting with representatives from major venture capital firms such as Andreessen Horowitz, General Catalyst, and Sequoia Capital.

The tour continues with state visits to Brazil, Chile, and Argentina, where President Lee will hold summit talks with his counterparts. The trip aims to strengthen diplomatic and economic ties across the Americas and conclude with a meeting with the Korean diaspora in Frankfurt, Germany, before his return.
