SK Chairman Chey Meets Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang Ahead of AI Summit, Reaffirming AI Alliance

SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won held a dinner meeting with Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang in Woodside, California, just days before South Korean President Lee Jae-myung's AI Summit. The high-profile gathering, attended by key executives from SK affiliates like SK Hynix CEO Kwak Noh-jung and representatives from SK Telecom, aimed to deepen collaboration on artificial intelligence infrastructure.

The meeting signals a continued commitment to advancing AI capabilities between SK and Nvidia. SK Hynix is set to jointly develop next-generation memory semiconductors aligned with Nvidia's AI roadmap. Concurrently, SK Telecom is partnering with Nvidia to establish an AI factory in South Korea, with operations slated to begin next year. This strategic alignment underscores the growing importance of AI hardware and infrastructure for both companies.

This engagement is part of a larger series of meetings involving South Korea's top business leaders and global technology giants during President Lee's U.S. tour. Chey Tae-won, along with Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong, Hyundai Motor Group Chairman Chung Eui-sun, and Naver Chairman Lee Hae-jin, are expected to meet with various tech leaders in Silicon Valley. President Lee Jae-myung is scheduled to host the AI Summit in San Francisco on June 24th. The event will feature prominent figures in the AI industry, including Jensen Huang, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, and Broadcom President and CEO Hock Tan. Following the summit, a dinner hosted by President Lee will provide a more informal setting for continued dialogue, reminiscent of previous high-level gatherings like the "Kkanbu Meeting" and "Hyungnim Meeting" held in Seoul.
