President Lee Offers Condolences for Rep. Jang Dong-hyuk's Family Bereavement; Han Dong-hoon, Lee Jun-seok Also Pay Respects

President Lee Jae-myung has expressed his condolences following the family bereavement of People Power Party leader Jang Dong-hyuk. The presidential office conveyed its intention to send mourners, following a directive from President Lee to attend to the matter. However, Jang's side politely declined the offer to receive visitors, accepting instead a wreath from the presidential office.

Jang Dong-hyuk, who is the leader of the People Power Party, had suspended his official schedule after the family loss on July 1st. He had not publicly announced the news of the bereavement.

The wake was held at a university hospital in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province, where condolences were offered by various political figures and acquaintances of Jang's family since July 2nd. Among those who paid their respects were members of the People Power Party, other political figures, and friends of Jang's family.

Lee Jun-seok, leader of the Reform Party, and independent lawmaker Han Dong-hoon also visited the wake. Lee Jun-seok's side had offered to visit first, given the wake's proximity to his constituency. Han Dong-hoon, however, visited late at night without prior contact with Jang's side.
