President Mahama Appoints Six to National Security Secretariat

President John Dramani Mahama has appointed and reassigned six individuals to the National Security Council Secretariat, signaling a move to reorganize the institution. The changes are effective immediately.

Among the appointees is retired Major General William Ayamdo, former Chief of Army Staff, who takes on the role of Deputy National Security Coordinator (Operations). Mr. Yaw Donkor, previously the National Security Coordinator, is now the Director of Intelligence and Research at the Office of the National Security Advisor.

The appointees and the officer reassigned were expected to bring their experience and expertise to bear on the operations of the Secretariat.

Further appointments include Mr. Adamu Saaka as Director of Logistics and Transport, and Ms. Faustina Effah-Boadi as Officer in Charge of the Human Security Department. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Rtd) Peter Ndekugri has been appointed Officer in Charge of the Special Investigations Unit. Assistant Commissioner of Police Alhassan Osman has been reassigned back to the Ghana Police Service for further deployment.

The government stated that these appointments and reassignments are intended to leverage the experience and expertise of the individuals to enhance the Secretariat's operations. This reorganisation is part of a broader effort to streamline operations, boost efficiency, and bolster the nation's security infrastructure to address evolving security challenges. The National Security Council Secretariat plays a crucial role in advising the President and coordinating the country's security agencies.
