President Milanović receives award at Sinjska alka reception

Croatian President Zoran Milanović was honored with a special recognition during the traditional Vojvodin reception, held in the lead-up to the 311th Sinjska alka tournament in Sinj. The prestigious award was presented by Stipe Jukić, president of the Knights' Association of Sinj Alka.

The Vojvodin reception, a customary event preceding the main tournament, gathered Croatia's state leadership. Alongside President Milanović, Prime Minister Andrej Plenković, Speaker of Parliament Gordan Jandroković, and several government ministers were in attendance, highlighting the national significance of the occasion.

Following the reception, a parade of the alkar knights took place before the competition commenced at the Alka's racecourse. The Sinjska alka is one of Croatia's most renowned traditional events, commemorating the 1715 victory of the town's defenders against Ottoman forces. For over three centuries, it has drawn numerous visitors to Sinj and the surrounding Cetina region.

The day's festivities were set to continue after the tournament concluded, with a concert by Siniša Vuco scheduled for the evening at Dr. Franjo Tuđman Square.
