President Museveni to Join Parliament in Paying Tribute to Gen Moses Ali

President Yoweri Museveni is expected to attend a special parliamentary session on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, to pay tribute to the late General (Rtd) Moses Ali. The Government Chief Whip, Ruth Aceng, communicated the President's attendance to legislators, urging them to arrive early for security screening before the 9:00 am session.

Honourable Members, I have received information that H.E the President will join us to pay tribute to Honourable Gen Moses Ali in Parliament on Tuesday 21st July 2026 at 9am.

Parliament had previously postponed the special sitting from Monday to Tuesday to accommodate the tribute for the veteran politician, who served as the First Deputy Prime Minister and represented Adjumani West County. General Ali passed away on Saturday.

I humbly request members to come early by 8.00am and conclude security checks on time.

Following the parliamentary tribute, General Ali's body will be transported to Adjumani District on the same day for his final rites. He is scheduled to be laid to rest on Wednesday at his ancestral home in Adjumani.

The body will then be flown to Adjumani same day after the Eulogy.

General Ali had a long and distinguished career in public service, serving Uganda for decades as a soldier, cabinet minister, and legislator. His past government roles included First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Disaster Preparedness. At the time of his death, he held the position of Second Deputy Prime Minister and was the Member of Parliament for Adjumani West County. The government has accorded him an official burial, with a National Organising Committee working with his family to finalize arrangements.
