President Opposes All Violence, Spokesperson Says Amid Foreigner Crime Concerns

President Karol Nawrocki firmly opposes all forms of violence occurring on Polish streets, emphasizing that the perpetrator's nationality is irrelevant, according to his spokesperson, Rafał Leśkiewicz. This stance comes as Poland grapples with an increase in crimes against foreigners and a recent stabbing incident in Wroclaw.

Leśkiewicz stated that anyone committing verbal or physical aggression, whether Polish or foreign, should face severe punishment. He stressed that this expectation is directed towards the ruling government, which holds responsibility for national security. The presidential office clarified that decisions regarding the handling of foreign nationals who commit crimes rest with the government, specifically the ministers of interior and justice, and the independent judiciary.

The spokesperson addressed the recent attack in Wroclaw, where an 18-year-old Ukrainian national is accused of attempting to murder a 30-year-old Polish woman. Leśkiewicz reiterated that the legal consequences for such acts are determined by the justice system and the government's executive decisions. He also commented on an earlier incident in Bielsko-Biała where two young girls of Ukrainian origin were verbally attacked on a bus.

Leśkiewicz accused Prime Minister Donald Tusk of using every situation to attack President Nawrocki, employing what he described as "twisted rhetoric and manipulation." The presidential office maintains that the government is responsible for addressing security concerns and implementing appropriate measures against those who perpetrate violence, regardless of their origin.
