President Prabowo Designates Village Cooperatives as Primary Subsidy Distributors

President Prabowo Subianto has directed the Village/Kelurahan Cooperatives, known as Kopdes Merah Putih, to serve as central economic hubs within villages and act as the main channels for distributing government subsidies. This initiative aims to strengthen the village economy and ensure aid reaches those most in need.

During the 79th National Cooperative Day commemoration in Jakarta, President Prabowo elaborated on the cooperative's multifaceted role. Kopdes Merah Putih will function as an integrated economic service center, incorporating cooperative offices, basic necessity stores, micro-credit facilities, and village pharmacies offering affordable generic medications. The cooperatives will also manage village logistics, including warehousing and cold storage facilities, to prevent spoilage of agricultural produce and support other economic activities.

There will be village logistics, warehouses, cold storage so that farmers' produce does not spoil, and various other economic services," President Prabowo explained to cooperative leaders from across Indonesia.

People's subsidized goods cannot be resold, so that those who need them receive them," Prabowo stated firmly.

This directive underscores the government's commitment to ensuring equitable distribution of essential goods and financial aid, leveraging the cooperative structure to enhance transparency and accessibility at the grassroots level.
