President Prabowo Leads National Remembrance Ceremony at Kalibata Heroes Cemetery

President Prabowo Subianto led a solemn National Ziarah and Renungan Suci ceremony at the Kalibata Heroes Cemetery in South Jakarta on Sunday night, August 16. The event served as a solemn prelude to the upcoming 81st anniversary of Indonesia's Independence.

Arriving at the cemetery in his official presidential car, the Maung Garuda, at 11:39 PM WIB, President Prabowo was greeted by a drum band. He was accompanied by Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, Minister of Defense Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, and former Head of the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) AM Hendropriyono.

The procession moved towards the Heroes Monument Area, where the President placed a wreath beneath the Garuda Bird statue. He then led a moment of silence, urging attendees to remember the sacrifices of the nation's heroes who died fighting for independence and sovereignty. "Let us bow our heads, remembering the services and souls of the heroes who have sacrificed their body and soul for the independence and honor of the Indonesian nation. Moment of silence, begin," President Prabowo stated during the ceremony.

Following the moment of silence, the ceremony continued with a salute to the heroes' spirits, led by the parade commander. The event concluded shortly after, with the President departing the venue at 11:50 PM. Before leaving, President Prabowo shook hands with members of the 'Red and White Cabinet' who were present. This ceremony is a routine state agenda held annually before the commemoration of Indonesia's Independence Day.
