President Prabowo Praises Pegadaian's Strong Performance and Gold Ecosystem Role

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto lauded PT Pegadaian's strong performance, highlighting its significant profit growth during the 2026 Annual Session of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR). The state-owned pawnshop company achieved a net profit of Rp6.59 trillion in the first half of 2026, an 84.4% year-on-year increase from Rp3.58 trillion in the same period of 2025.

Beyond financial achievements, Prabowo emphasized Pegadaian's strategic role in enhancing the value of domestic gold commodities through its "Gold Bank" initiative. As the first company in Indonesia to receive a license for bullion business activities, Pegadaian has been instrumental in strengthening the national gold ecosystem from upstream to downstream. The business, now managing approximately 153 tons of gold, has seen a substantial increase since the bullion service's inception.

Damar Latri Setiawan, President Director of PT Pegadaian, expressed that the President's appreciation serves as both an honor and a motivation for all Pegadaian employees. He stated that the positive profit growth is a result of public trust, government support, hard work, business transformation, and the ongoing strengthening of the gold ecosystem. Setiawan added that the Gold Bank initiative aims to optimize Indonesia's gold potential, ensuring greater value addition and circulation within the country.

As the first Gold Bank in Indonesia, we want to ensure that the great potential of national gold can provide broader economic benefits. The gold-based business management, which has now reached around 153 tons, shows the great trust and potential that can still be developed.

Prabowo had previously inaugurated the Gold Bank service on February 26, 2025, as part of the government's strategic policy to bolster national economic resilience and independence while maximizing Indonesia's gold resources.
