President Prabowo's 1.25-ton bull to be slaughtered in Bandung

A 1.25-ton Simmental bull, a donation from President Prabowo Subianto, is set to be slaughtered at the Ciroyom Slaughterhouse in Bandung, Indonesia. Named Sheva, the bull was presented at the Al Ukhuwah Mosque on Wednesday, May 27, 2026.

Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan stated that the bull, a special Indonesian breed from Central Java raised in Ujungberung, weighs approximately 1.25 tons. He confirmed that the animal was directly sent to the city's slaughterhouse and will be distributed to recipients on the same day.

The bull was channeled directly to the Bandung City Slaughterhouse and God willing, will be distributed to mustahik today as well.

Farhan explained that President Prabowo tasked local governments with selecting suitable cattle for donation. The Bandung city government proposed six candidates, and Sheva was chosen. The mayor plans to oversee the slaughtering process to ensure it meets standards and that the meat is distributed to deserving individuals.

The city is celebrating Eid al-Adha with a sense of gratitude for blessings received since January 2026, despite acknowledging future challenges. Farhan urged citizens to embrace the spirit of sacrifice for the betterment of Bandung and its residents.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Food Security and Agriculture Agency, Gin Gin Ginanjar, reported that all donated sacrificial animals have been certified as healthy and fit for slaughter. His agency is inspecting slaughter sites to ensure meat quality and safety, having already checked 18,036 animals, predominantly sheep and goats.
