President Prabowo Salutes Former President Jokowi at Police Anniversary

President Prabowo Subianto offered a respectful salute to former President Joko Widodo during the 80th anniversary of the Indonesian National Police (Polri) in Cikeas, Bogor, West Java. The ceremony, held on Wednesday morning, July 1, 2026, marked a significant moment between the current and former leaders.

Prabowo, accompanied by Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, entered the ceremony area and greeted attendees, including past presidents and vice presidents. Upon greeting Jokowi, Prabowo raised his right hand to his temple in a gesture of respect before shaking hands.

The 80th anniversary celebration carried the theme '80 Years of Police Service for the Community.' The event was attended by key figures such as National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit and TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto. Several ministers from Prabowo's cabinet were also present, including the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs, Djamari Chaniago.

According to Inspector General Johnny Eddizon Isir, the Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police, the event included a parade and a display of personnel from various Polri units. An exhibition showcased the police's main and special equipment, highlighting domestically produced items as a symbol of national independence and sovereignty, alongside various innovations and social assistance programs.
